Making vases means for me painting in three dimensions, sculpting, engraving. I make them in a more experimental working process than the maiolica tableware. They are painted in different layers with clay slips, molded with my fingers or engraved with different tools. After the bisque firing they are painted with underglaze colors and glazed with a matt transparent glaze. Vases are my field of test and error, where I explore new ideas, forms and techniques. Once finished, each piece holds the many layers of creation in its unique presence.
